There are so many myths about weight loss that we split this into two separate posts. As a reminder, there isn’t a one size fits all way of looking at fitness and weight loss, but for the most part there are some pretty standard tips to keep in mind. It is easy to forget that there is a market for all things related to health and fitness, and when that happens it means that people will try to come up with ideas to sell you things that you don’t necessarily need. This is where a lot of the myths about weight loss originate from. Here are some more weight loss myths you don’t need to believe any longer.

That it Takes a Lot of Effort to Lose Weight

Weight loss really doesn’t need to be so hard, nor does it require a lot of time. Some studies have even found that we have a cap off limit when it comes to burning calories, so you really don’t need to have an extreme fitness regime going to make good progress. In fact being moderately active might be the best option. What is crucial is that you stick to a healthy eating plan that you can stick with, since it seems that diet has such a huge part in keeping the weight in check.

Sure you might have to release some less than awesome eating habits or patterns that you’re in, but if you can accept that part of the process and stick with it the pounds should stay off pretty easily. Too often people put off weight loss because life seems hectic or complicated, but that approach will always fail you because life is always going to be hectic and complicated. The best thing you can do is accept that it’s an ongoing process and stick with it.

Cheating On Your Diet is Bad

This sort of depends on how you think about it. Any healthy diet will have some room for cheat moments, but whether you should consider it cheating it or not depends on your personality. There’s nothing wrong with having the occasional dessert, since you don’t want to make it completely off limits which can make some people crave it even more. Some studies have even found that allowing “cheat” meals or days helps people stick to their goals longterm since they don’t have to completely cut out anything out of their diet for good.

All Sugar is Bad For You

Sometimes people get confused by the concept of sugar being bad. And when it comes to processed sugar yes it’s true that you should be limiting this as much as possible, but natural sugars from fruits aren’t going to have the same effect on the body as processed sugars. You still shouldn’t be binging on apples, but most people aren’t so it’s not generally something that you need to worry about. When it comes to snacking you can take an extra precaution to control the blood sugar by eating some protein along with the fruit.
