Study Says the Color She Wears On Your Date Actually Matters

It’s hard to imagine that there could be a correlation between what color a woman chooses to wear on a date and how serious about you she is, but according to the following research there seems to be. If there is any chance that this is accurate, you might as well be informed right?

The study published in the journal PLOS One takes the research that’s been done on red clothing to the next level. In 2012 one study found that when women wore red clothing  men assumed that they were more interested in sex, but this study wanted to find out a bit more about the real intentions of the women.

To do this study they got 49 women between the ages of 18 and 43 to participate. They basically set it up so the women didn’t know what they were being tested on at all. They gave them the information about where to show up for the study and when, and then included a photo of the research assistant that were going to be working with. Some of them were assigned an attractive research assistant, while others were assigned a slightly less attractive one.

To figure out who was considered “attractive” versus “unattractive”, before this study started they asked 20 different women to rate the looks of a variety of men that they were considered as options. They ended up going with two “assistants” who were similar looking but one was deemed attractive by the ladies and the other just slightly below the marker.

Of course once the women showed on up on the day of the guys weren’t actually there, so they told them someone else would be stepping in. Then they took their photos to capture what they were wearing, and asked them a series of questions about things like their love life and how they perceived their own attractiveness.

At the end the researchers determined that the women who were expecting to meet the cute guy researcher were more likely to show up wearing red than the women who were not. They concluded that:

“This research reveals a subtle but potentially powerful sexual strategy that women use to attract highly desirable mates while potentially avoiding unattractive ones.”

They did not that it wasn’t just dependent on the color of her clothing either, and that red lipstick is another good indicator. They even went on to say that pink clothing or makeup was another good cue that she might be interested as well. However they pointed out that orange, maroon, and purple do not fall into the same category.

Something to consider? Who knows. You can know for sure that some women feel extra sexy rocking a red dress or lipstick, but other women might feel so flashy in a red lip they would actually avoid it on a first date, even if they were extremely interested. (Some women don’t like to look like they’re trying too hard or being obvious.) Be sure and let us know if you have any of your own experiences to share.

Red is the sexiest. However I’m not sure that I would be comfortable making an assumption about how a woman felt about me based on her clothing cjoice
